Hello
I'm Amy, an editor of Trafficology.com
& co-founder of the web development
firm Internet of New England. I
specialize in showing businesses
how they can use the Internet to
help customers and achieve their
long-term strategic goals.
Back in 1996 I was studying economics
at the University of Vermont (UVM).
While fascinating… it was
not what I really wanted to do.
So, I took a couple computer science
courses and became interested
in helping businesses use computers
and the Internet.
A year later I decided that real-world
experience is what I needed -
so I moved to Virginia and worked
as a Webmaster & Information
System Consultant for Operation
LifeSaver. We used our website
to educate people about railway-crossing
safety, to coordinate the efforts
of volunteers around the country
and to promote a worthy cause
that reduced railway-crossing
fatalities from over 12,000 deaths
annually in 1972 to 3,072 deaths
annually in 2002 - still far to
many.
With that valuable experience
I returned to UVM to finish my
degree in Business & MIS -
that was when I took my first
Marketing course. That changed
everything - learning the fundamentals
of direct marketing opened my
eyes to the real power of the
web. While the Internet is good
for distributing information -
it is great for helping businesses
reach out to their customers and
for solving customer problems.
I discovered that what businesses
really need, are websites that
provide better service and fulfill
the wants of their customers.
So I co-founded Internet of New
England with the mission of showing
companies that they don't need
brochure websites that look pretty
- they need functional websites
that make money.
Since then, Dearl and I have
focused our efforts on teaching
companies unique and innovative
ways to be successful online.
Specifically we teach small businesses
how they can compete with, and
in many cases beat their biggest
competition. In our last project
we took a site that was loosing
$3,000/year. And, in less than
3 months we created an e-business
that generates more than $400,000/year
in sales - for a small family-owned
company.
While my focus is working with
small businesses, I have served
as a data collection manager for
Opinion Research Corporation and
also do database work for the
Department of Homeland Security.
Away from work I spend my time
listening to Channel 8 on XM.
I love to dance and I am somewhat
of an aspiring actress. I enjoy
helping people. I am very inquisitive.
I want to learn about other people's
viewpoints and gain a different
perspective - to become a more
open-minded person.
At Trafficology we are dedicated
to sharing with you everything
we have learned over the past
7 years and to teach you how to
develop unique & innovative
ideas that will help you become
successful. But Trafficology is
not about us, just like always,
every issue will still have the
best
ideas submitted by you - so
keep them coming in!
But that is not all - we will
also bring you original case studies,
timely articles and exclusive
interviews with the top marketing
experts; the people who have discovered
the real secrets and found out
through their own experience what
works…and what doesn't.
I am dedicated to providing information
that will help you be successful.
Sure success means having more
money, but more importantly success
means having more free time, more
time to spend with your family
and the freedom to live life the
way you want. I will do everything
I can to help - but it is up to
you to make it happen.
We have a lot of big plans for
the future of Trafficology. Some
you will see very soon and others
that will take a little longer
to get ready - but all are designed
to help you discover the most
unique and innovative traffic
creation and conversion ideas.
